Biographical Information:

William J. McDevitt, a shareholder of Wilkin & Guttenplan, P.C. since 1997, is the shareholder in charge of the Tax Department. He has extensive expertise in all phases of tax planning, research and compliance for closely-held businesses and their owners. Bill’s tax experience includes tax ruling requests, corporate reorganizations, accounting method changes, managing tax examinations, international taxation, and estate planning.

Bill has experience in business advisory services such as business succession planning and private foundations. His expertise includes representation of clients acquiring and selling business interests through the negotiation process, the performance of due diligence and the structuring of transactions with the goal of tax minimization. Bill has extensive experience in providing litigation support services in the areas of business valuations, matrimonial matters and shareholder dispute resolutions.

Prior to joining the firm, Bill was a manager in the tax division of an international accounting firm. In 1989, he founded McDevitt & Company, P.C. and managed this practice until 1997, when McDevitt & Company, P.C. merged with Wilkin & Guttenplan, P.C.
