What We Have to Say

When I started with the firm in the late 1980s, my first responsibility was helping to overcome the challenges of implementing a new billing and collection system. Over time, an entire practice management function-including staff utilization, realization, time and billing, collections, telecommunications-have all become my responsibility here. We also provide bookkeeping services for a number of clients, and I oversee this key part of the firm's operations. The firm also has a "boutique" practice providing personal financial management for professional athletes, so in addition to supervising the administration of their finances, I have had the opportunity to get to know quite a few major league players, which has been a lot of fun.

I appreciate all of our shareholders, but anybody coming here would be very fortunate to develop the kind of relationships I've been lucky enough to have with Mike LoVerde and Ed Guttenplan. Mike is the ever-patient teacher-always willing to teach me just about anything that interests me about our work-whether it directly relates to what I need to know-or is just for "general knowledge." And I don't know if I could really say enough nice things about Ed Guttenplan. Whether it's a challenge at home, needed guidance here at work, or the pursuit of a professional interest, there can't be a more supportive, empathetic or generally good person to work for. His door-and if we need it-his arms are open to us -for an emotional or physical hug, a pat on the back, or for some practical advice. It goes even further. Some of the staff have found themselves in tough personal circumstances, and the firm has provided resources to help them through their difficulties. And the firm is really into self-development, so we have an interest-free loan program for people to purchase fitness equipment or computers for their homes.

But Ed's no pushover. He expects, and he gets, the very best from each one of us, which gives us a real sense of pride and accomplishment.

I could never have imagined that where I started all those years ago would give me this much fulfillment and gratification. It's because the people here cared enough to help me develop to my fullest potential, and that's something anyone considering a position should know. I see the way the firm nurtures, trains, mentors our new staff to be sure they are growing professionally and maintaining their quality of life-making good choices that add something to their lives. Anyone coming here should be very confident that they are making the best choice by joining W&G.
