I came to Wilkin & Guttenplan in 1998 after
spending time with one of the major accounting firms, and
also spent time at the AICPA. Although both jobs were very
challenging, I wanted the opportunity to have a more "hands
on" interaction with clients, and this was the perfect
fit.
It's not only the entry level folks who can advance rapidly,
but more senior level people joining the firm will find there
are very solid career opportunities here, as well. I use my
experience at the firm as one of the many examples in which
quality work has been consistently recognized and rewarded.
In a relatively short period of time, I have advanced from
Manager to Senior Manager, and then to Principal.
I think just about everybody appreciates the value of camaraderie
and flexibility, but I think it's important to emphasize another
great aspect of working here-the ability to take initiative
and be supported and recognized for doing so. I think that
the encouragement the staff gets to "take the ball and
run with it" is something that really sets us apart and
should resonate with people making career choices. We are
continually creating new challenges for people at the firm
to develop new skills and expertise. These new challenges
may be in the form of productivity enhancements, technology
or client development. There are many firms which may discourage
or feel "threatened" when employees seek productive
opportunities which may not always be viewed as operating
within the expected "norms", but we've found productive
and successful ways to harness this initiative. A person here
who sees and effectively addresses these opportunities will
find out that here they will be supported, encouraged and
recognized for their effort and success. That makes Wilkin
& Guttenplan an incredible place to build a great career,
whether you are just starting out, or have years of professional
experience.
