Our Training Programs

The philosophy of the leadership of the firm is that our people are our most precious resource, and the future of our firm. That's why we invest heavily in our staff and in their development. Training through the W&G Professional Growth Academy initiative, a competency based training program designed to provide CPE to our staff, is responsive to the competencies necessary for each stage of the firm while also being tailored for each individual.

"On the job training" is valuable, but it's only one aspect of your education here. We combine practical, job-based learning with a comprehensive classroom-style curriculum to provide you with the accounting knowledge and supporting technical skills to broaden your knowledge and experience. And, as you advance, you’ll learn the soft skills; the more sophisticated leadership, managerial and functional assets you will use throughout your career. In addition, as you continue in your career, a developmental coach will work with you to create a tailored program that carefully considers your interests and charts a course for growth and advancement that works for you, and in turn, for the firm. More specifically:

Training in Your First Year

We appreciate the unique challenges you face at this stage of your career. You want to make a positive impression, are eager to learn what you'll need to accomplish on client assignments, and how to manage the transition from being a student to becoming an accounting professional. So our multi-faceted training systematically addresses these issues with:

  • Year 2 Preparatory Training
  • On the Job Training

Tailored and Personalized Advanced Level Training After 1 Year With the Firm

As your career progresses, you will develop an annual personalized Continuing Professional Education (CPE) program in conjunction with the Firm's Chief Learning Officer and CPE coordinator to address your individual interests and needs. Some classes are mandatory for all firm members to fulfill professional CPE requirements. Classes may also be taken at local colleges, state society sponsored programs or at other professional organizations' sites. And to help you develop and refine the soft skills you will need for managerial and communication effectiveness, classes are available in public speaking, leadership development, supervisory skills, communication and writing, time management, and more.
