What We Have to Say

"The longer I’m here, the more I feel that I made the right career choice. In the relatively short span of time since I was hired, I’ve experienced what I think is a pretty quick progression as far as my level of responsibility for managing client assignments. And now, I’m now starting to assume informal supervisory functions, which I think is a nice show of confidence in my abilities. Sure, you’ve got to communicate with the firm’s management in a positive way to let them know you want certain types of assignments, but the good news is that here, someone pays attention to you and will make every effort to respond favorably to that type of request.

I think anyone making a career choice has to ask themselves, “What do you define as a good quality of life?” For a lot of people I think that correlates to how much money they make and obviously that’s an important factor for everyone. I think there is a misconception though, that working for one of the Big 4 accounting firms yields a much larger salary. However, I am confident that my salary is comparable to that of friends who work at larger firms. In addition, I know I have much greater control of my schedule than I would at a larger firm and this is incredibly important to me. The firm really promotes employees having a balance between work and a personal life.

So when you consider the quality of life, the firm’s commitment to employee satisfaction, the accessibility of the partner group, a structure in place that recognizes and rewards accomplishment, and some of those random surprises that inject some fun into the workday (like during busy season when the firm rented sumo costumes and had some of the partners wrestle each other)--you have to ask yourself-- why you wouldn’t want to check out W&G, and if they make you an offer, why you wouldn’t want to work here? I can only say I am glad that I have never had to ask myself that question. "
