Governor Murphy, Senate President Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Coughlin have officially announced the extension of the April 15th tax deadline to July 15th. The State Senate and Assembly had previously passed legislation to extend the deadline to June 30th a couple of weeks ago but this bill went unsigned by the Governor. They have now come to an agreement to match the Federal tax relief by extending the deadline to July 15th. Many taxpayers will be relieved as there was a growing concern about New Jersey’s lack of action in moving the tax deadline prior to today to provide relief as the State struggles with the COVID-19 pandemic.
