William J. McDevitt, CPA, CVA
Bill McDevitt, a Shareholder of Wilkin & Guttenplan P.C., has been with the firm since 1997. He is also the director of the tax department. He has extensive expertise in all phases of tax planning, research and compliance for closely-held businesses and their owners. Bill’s tax experience includes corporate reorganizations, accounting method changes, managing tax examinations and international taxation. He has also developed an expertise in estate planning as well as business advisory services such as business succession planning.
His expertise also includes representation of clients acquiring and selling business interests through the negotiation process, the performance of due diligence and the structuring of transactions with the goal of tax minimization. Bill has extensive experience in providing litigation support services in the areas of business valuations, matrimonial matters and shareholder dispute resolutions.
Prior to joining the firm, Bill was a manager in the tax division of an international accounting firm. In 1989, he founded McDevitt & Company, P.C. and managed this practice until 1997, when McDevitt & Company, P.C. merged with Wilkin & Guttenplan P.C.

Bill graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Montclair State College. He continues his education through regular continuing professional education (CPE) and educational seminars.
